Flower Power - Floral Essence in New Skincare Products
I came across an article in the March 2011 issue of Whole Living on Flower Power that I found interesting and wanted to share. It discusses the therapeutic benefits of flowers used in skin care. Some of the flowers invigorate, even out skin tone, retain moisture, brighten and clarify as well as provide a scent that calms and soothes.
I wouldn't recommend rubbing flowers all over your face and body but would definitely consider trying some of the products in the article to see how they fare against their findings. They offer products that range in price which makes it reasonable for everyone to be able to try.
Happy Monday!

Digging in the Dirt
A few months back we were celebrating my brother-in-laws birthday. We decided to make it a little formal and have a very adult seated dinner before the real debauchery began. I felt like the table needed a little something to enhance the decor. I thought I could find some cool branches with leaves and create a tall centerpiece so I decide to take a little nature walk. It was late fall and all the leaves had already fallen off the trees. I guess I missed that bus a couple weeks back! Now what?
I realized there were patches of moss everywhere. I suddenly felt inspired by it because some of the patches were this vibrant green and others were a little lighter. The texture of the individual patches of moss was even different. I decided to dig right in and started pulling up as much as I could. Now, you have to understand I'm not a floral designer. I'm just a creative Sales & Marketing Director with the will to finish any project I start.
Once inside with all my moss, a few select rocks, and drift wood like pieces, I cut away all the dirt and cleaned the moss as best as I could. I shook each piece out into the sink to clear it of all debris and dirt. I covered the center of the table with cling wrap and started sculpting my materpiece. As I went along I added votive candles and worked the moss around them throughout the entire tablescape. In the end I think I was even surprised at how well it came out.
I have heard that my project inspired a few other people. I feel honored knowing that someone out there is designing her table centerpieces for her wedding around my project. So with pride I am sharing a few photos with you. If there's anyone out there that would like to share photos of a tablescape that they have created, please feel free to email them to me for posting consideration.
