Bridgewaters Wedding- July 2011
One of our weddings this past weekend had a cute travel theme incorporated into their reception. We worked with the couple and their planner Michelle, Founder of Pink Monkey Events to assist with making their dream wedding come true.
Their escort card table was decorated with several vintage suitcases in blue, brown and yellow. Michelle creatively displayed the escort cards inside of two open suitcases. The top suitcase featured a display of cascading flowers meant to feel like they were popping out of the suitcase. The base of the display had votive candles scattered around to cast a romantic glow.
I love that the couple chose to go with a blue and brown theme. The blue complemented the location of their venue, Bridgewaters which features river views from the cocktail area and outdoor space. The brown added a touch of vintage which carried over in the floral centerpieces, the brown linen napkins and the brown crocodile texutred frames holding the table numbers.
The bride and groom were so happy with the way everything came together. It's always so satisfying for us to see people smile.

City Blossoms Has Some Fresh Designs
In anticipation of our launch of our new website we felt like we needed some fresh designs to go along with it. We had an all day photo shoot last week with the amazing Nicholas Eveleigh. He has this amazing ability to capture our designs in a way that even makes us say, "Oh Wow". Here's a sneak peak of a few of them.

Rockleigh Country Club Wedding - July 16, 2011
City Blossoms was busy this weekend with a wedding at the well known Rockleigh Country Club in New Jersey. The bride wanted her flowers to make a statement. It was all glitz and glamour with all white flowers and crystals.
Her Chuppah was draped in a light fluttery white chiffon. All white hydrangea and delicate white phalaenopsis orchids were clustered on the front crosspiece for a dramatic design. The sides and back had hanging crystals with white phalaenopsis orchids that gave off a floating affect. Uplighting was added at the end for the piece de resistance. The weather was just perfect for this outdoor late evening walk down the aisle.
The reception tables were centered with alternating designs of low and two different high style centerpieces for a dramatic visual effect. Crystals were added into the individual arrangements so that when the lights were dimmed and the votive candles were lit it gave off a soft romantic shimmering glow.

Modern Trousseau New York Photo Shoot
Here are a few photos from our recent collaboration with Modern Trousseau New York. They asked us to design a few bridal bouquets for their New York City shoot this past June. We love the dresses! They are absolutely gorgeous and super sexy. Our flowers definitely take a back seat to the dresses which were the real inspiration for the shoot. We were just lucky enough to add that extra element that makes the dresses pop!

Battery Gardens Wedding - Chris & Jaap, Saturday, June 24, 2011
This was a fantastic wedding at Battery Gardens where the bride, Chris requested all orange tulips. The design varied throughout the ceremony and reception. Sometimes the flowers just speak for themselves. These are just a few photos. We will post more shortly.
Our Trip to Wave Hill - Public Garden and Cultural Center
This weekend I had visitors from my hometown and wanted to take them to places other than Times Square. There's so much more to New York and the boroughs. It was such a beautiful weekend and we wanted to take advantage of the weather so we took a trip to Wave Hill in the Bronx.
What a spectacular place! There's 28 acres of gardens, grounds and woodlands. Everythings is so green and in bloom right now. I had been there once before for an event but didn't get to see the entire garden. We really picked the perfect weekend. Not only was everything flowering but it was also a sponsored weekend by Target so the entrance fee was free!
Here are a few photos from my visit. Enjoy!

The Celebration Continues
It doesn't happen very often but once in a while you have the couple that comes to you telling you that they're already married and are throwing a celebration for their family. You know that adventurous couple that runs off and gets hitched on some tropical paradise and brings just their close friends or immediate family.
Jen and Joseph did just that! When we first starting discussing the details of their event it was to be very low key. This was a dinner celebration for the people that wanted to share this part of Jen and Joseph's life. As it turned out the event morphed into a full wedding ceremony and reception. On top of that this all came to fruition in just a couple months time.
Jen and Joseph were so much fun to work with. They got a beautiful day and really deserved it. We wish them a lifetime of happiness and all good things to come their way!

Dazzling Wedding at Leonard's of Long Island
Purple is the "it" color right now for weddings this season. We can't tell you how many couples we have coming into our showroom for wedding consultations and asking us how to incorporate purple into their reception without making it look tacky. Purple can be a tricky color to work with. You have to consider the shade of purple and decide whether it's used more as an accent or as the prominent and featured color.
Last weekend we were in Long Island for the wedding of one of our brides, Maggie. Her venue was Leonard's of Long Island and she chose a purple color scheme. Maggie went with a dark purple hue. We decided to keep the flowers for the ceremony as soft and neutral as possible. The bridesmaid bouquet's featured a touch of dark purple in their bouquets which was a small nod to the color scheme. Her reception was looked regal with the addition of lighting, her purple color scheme was done right.

Birthday Celebration at Aretsky's Patroon
For those of you out there that aren't in on the secret yet, Aretsky's Patroon is a place you should know about. It's an outstanding midtown restaurant offering classic American cuisine. Lunch at Patroon is a power house crowd of who's who and you never know who you may see dining in one of their oversized leather booths or in one of their six private dining rooms on the second floor. In the warmer months you should check out their outdoor rooftop which just received a major renovation last year. It's an oasis in New York City.
City Blossoms was asked to design the flowers for Ken Aretsky's recent birthday celebration. We couldn't have been happier to be able to show off our designs in a restaurant of this caliber as well as to the owners, Ken and Diana Aretsky and their guests. We loved the way everything turned out and recieved so many compliments on the flowers. After the owners of Patroon the highest compliment came from Charles Masson of La Grenouille.
